Director ID Requirements

A Director Identification Number (Director ID) is a legal requirement in Australia. All first-time directors must apply for a Director ID before being appointed to a company. This unique identifier helps verify each director’s identity and strengthens corporate transparency. When submitting a new company registration, CorpSec Direct is required to collect the Director IDs of all appointed directors.

Please note: Directors must apply for their Director ID before appointment, but they do not need to wait for the physical number to arrive before proceeding. This is especially important for overseas directors, as international mail delivery times may vary. To apply or learn more, visit the ABRS website.
